James endeavours to advise his clients thoughtfully and with empathy, sensitivity and care. With over 25 years’ experience as an employment lawyer, he regularly advises individuals and employers across sectors ranging from the TV, film, music, gaming and theatre sectors to financial services, professional services, retail, advertising and marketing, hospitality and technology.

His work covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law with a particular emphasis on negotiating the beginning and end of employment relationships for employers and senior executives; business protection (including post-termination restrictions and non-competition) and confidentiality; redundancies (including collective consultation obligations); the employment aspects of business sales and transfers, including TUPE; Employment Tribunal litigation and day-to-day employment advice and support for businesses and individuals.
