An experienced advertising and marketing, sponsorship and talent practitioner, Huw is a Partner in Lee & Thompson’s Advertising & Marketing Group, and Head of our Commercial team. Known for a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape in this sector. Huw acts for brands, agencies, platforms, media owners and talent.

Before that, Huw worked in the legal team at the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, and as Head of UK Advertising at a US law firm. Huw has extensive UK and international experience advising clients on advertising and marketing legal and regulatory matters, sales and business development, regulatory investigations, commercial contracts, intellectual property, international distribution, digital, media buying and planning, talent and content acquisition, production and sponsorship. He acts for global FMCG brands, national and international platforms, developers, advertising. marketing and creative agencies, industry associations, retailers, charities and start-ups across a range of industries.

He has undertaken secondments to key clients including McDonald’s, Sara Lee and Heinz (covering the role of European General Counsel for seven months Huw founded and leads the firm’s Inclusion & Belonging Network . Huw founded and leads the firm’s Inclusion & Belonging Network. In May 2023, he was shortlisted at the Rainbow Honours Awards for Outstanding Network Lead.

Huw is a Board Trustee of international contemporary dance company Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, and a Patron of Queer Britain the national LGBTQ+ Museum.

He is a founding member and current Board Director of OUTvertising, the LGBTQ+ network for professionals in the advertising industry, and a founding Committee Member of the LGBT+ Lawyers Division of The Law Society of England and Wales. He is a Board Advisor to TLC Lions, a leading DEI Consultancy, and a Strategic Advisor to myGwork – the LGBTQ+ professional network. Huw has been an Ambassador for Stonewall, the UK’s leading workplace equality charity, since 2015.

Huw has been ranked 3 times in the OUTstanding Leading LGBT+ Executives List, published in the Financial Times, achieving position 72 in 2018, 60 in 2019 and 39 in 2020.
