Francisco advises clients across the full spectrum of the videogames and interactive entertainment industries, including developers, publishers, platforms, service providers and esports stakeholders. His work spans PC/console, mobile and emerging technologies such as VR/XR.
He has extensive experience supporting both independent studios and AAA/global IP holders on videogame development and publishing, distribution, intellectual property protection and licensing, content clearance and regulatory compliance. He also advises on funding, age ratings, EULAs, terms of service, privacy policies and in-game monetisation strategies. In esports and talent matters, he supports teams, federations, players and agencies, including advising on brand partnerships and high-profile sponsorship and cover star agreements.
Francisco joined Lee & Thompson after gaining experience in both private practice and in-house at a major UK sports rightsholder, where he worked on media licensing and distribution, live events, advertising and data protection.
Complementing his legal work, he serves as a Director of the Portuguese Esports Federation, contributing to governance, regulation, tournament structuring and stakeholder relationships across the ecosystem.
He is known for his commercial approach, industry insight and ability to navigate complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
Francisco completed a law degree at the University of Lisbon before being admitted to practise in the EU (Portuguese qualified) in 2021 and cross qualifying as a solicitor in England & Wales.
