Lee & Thompson obtains indemnity costs order against Mitchell Winehouse

31st July 2026

Following the Court’s dismissal of all claims against Catriona Gourlay, close friend of Amy Winehouse, in April 2026, the Court has now awarded indemnity costs against Mr Winehouse. In the judgment (available here), the Judge held that Mr Winehouse’s conduct was “unreasonable to a high degree” and “outside the ordinary and reasonable conduct of proceedings”, justifying an order for indemnity costs.

Lee & Thompson partners Martyn Bailey and Frania Cooper represented Ms Gourlay, and instructed Ted Loveday of Maitland Chambers.
