18th February 2015

The Corporate & Commercial Group acted for TV production company, Corona TV in a recently completed deal with FremantleMedia. The deal, in which FremantleMedia has taken a 25% stake in Corona TV, gives Fremantle a first look option on all Corona TV output and is an exciting move for Corona founders, renowned filmmaking duo Richard Johns and Rupert Jermyn.

Corona TV is a sister company of Corona Pictures, which was founded by Johns and Jermyn in London in 2009. The company develops, produces and markets feature films and television programs to every country in the world, including the major established markets, and key emerging markets such as China. FremantleMedia previously worked with Johns and Jermyn on the development of Birds of Prey, a TV adaptation of the first three novels of Wilbur Smith’s Courtney series, penned by Layer Cake scriptwriter J.J. Connolly.

Malcolm Murray, Head of Corporate & Commercial, advised Richard Johns and Rupert Jermyn of Corona TV in the deal supported by Corporate Associate, Lucy Strauss. Reno Antoniades, Head of Film, advised Corona on development and distribution arrangements.
