Support L&T’s Charity Trek for Ukraine

24th August 2022

The continued suffering of the Ukrainian people continues to be in the hearts and minds of all of us and we want to play a part in helping our Charity of the Year, Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal‘s £4 billion funding requirement.

On Friday 16 September 2022, Lee & Thompson’s team will attempt to trek 25 km within a day in the Peak District, to raise funds for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Our group of 25 (and counting) will begin midway between Hope and Castleton and before long, will ascend onto the dales via the famous Cave Dale, a steep limestone valley.  Next in their sights will be the ascent of Mam Tor which will provide a bird’s eye view of the rest of the route as they follow the dramatic Edale valley edge horseshoe.  After a steep descent into Edale, there is a final up and over via Hollins Cross to head back down into Hope Valley and the starting point having climbed nearly 3,000 feet.

For lots of us, it will be a tough physical challenge unlike anything we have attempted before. We are hoping for early Autumn sunshine rather than a drenched September day. Check out the trek route below.

More about the Appeal

The Appeal is working tirelessly to provide essential humanitarian relief to those fleeing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Nearly ten million people are now internally displaced with around seven million refugees. 1,000 health facilities are in areas that have changed control and our support could help to provide emergency aid, shelter, food, water, hygiene/medical supplies and support to families and vulnerable people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The UN and humanitarian agencies identified a £4 billion funding requirement. Read more about the Appeal’s activities here.
