Alastair Talks Co-Production for BFI’s UK Global Screen Fund

With a continued growth in film and TV co-productions, Senior Associate Alastair Mavor was invited to join a panel at the BFI’s UK Global Screen Fund Co-Production Weekender 2023 to discuss how to put together an international co-production with an audience of established and up-and-coming UK-based producers.

Alastair highlighted the key legal aspects of a co-production, including the main elements of a co-production agreement, defining of creative roles, production tasks, financing/distribution territories, rights and revenue sharing, qualification under various bi-lateral treaties/convention.

Held on 22 April in Glasgow, Alastair spoke alongside Head of European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) Roshanak Behesht Nedjad and producers Emilie Georges of Memento Films (“Drift”, “Call Me By Your Name“) and Sonja Henrici (“Merkel“).

This follows another recent BFI talk given by Partner, Christos Michaels, aimed at up-and-coming UK-based producers.  The interactive and highly practical session focused on financial closings for films and ran as part of BFI’s Insight Producer Programme 2023.
