Lee & Thompson is delighted to announce the promotion of Luke Carey to the Partnership, effective from 1 April 2024.

Luke joined Lee & Thompson in 2018 and is a respected and admired member of the firm’s Film & TV team. He brings invaluable sector knowledge to his practice, having spent almost a decade working in-house in film production. He advises clients on all matters related to the development, production, financing and distribution of film projects.

Luke also spearheads the Film & TV Group’s NextGen Producers Collective together with Partner, Antony Swiatek, which seeks to encourage and support the next generation of independent film and television producers in the UK. He also supports recent graduates of the NFTS’ producers course as part of the James Walker Legacy Award, launched in 2020 in memory of colleague and friend, James Walker.

The firm has also promoted the following team members:

• Marek George and Alastair Mavor (Film & TV) become Legal Directors.
• Fiona Hartwell (Commercial),  Martin Tynan (Employment) and Michael Lucas (Music) become Senior Associates.

Following the recent appointment of Partners Andy Moseby and Nick Swimer – from Deloitte Legal and Reed Smith respectively – Luke’s promotion brings the partnership to 33, the largest in the firm’s history.
