Over £6k raised for Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

19th April 2023

We’ve hiked, we’ve baked, we’ve watched, we’ve eaten and together we’ve raised a total of £6,088.30 for our 2022/23 Charity of the Year,  the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC)’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Members of L&T’s Charity Committee planned a mixture of new fundraising concepts for staff, such as our Fitzrovia guided walking series, a rooftop ice-cream stall, festive wreath making, a Halloween raffle and the Platinum Jubilee Afternoon L&Tea Party, always seeking to bring the firm together to raise money for and awareness of this important cause.

Not only were funds raised through employee donations and the firm’s fund-matching programme, but also through the generous sponsorship of our annual Charity Trek challenge by clients, suppliers and supporters.

We also welcomed Bex Roberts from DEC to our office to speak to the firm mid-way through our fundraising year about the incredible and vital support they are providing to those impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We learned about how donations are being used. The continued suffering of the Ukrainian people continues to be in the hearts and minds of all of us and we are thankful to have been able to play a small part in contributing towards this appeal’s £4 billion funding requirement.

DEC’s Bex Roberts commented: “On behalf of everyone at the DEC I want to say a huge thank you for your wonderful fundraising for the Ukraine Appeal over the past year, it is absolutely fantastic, and we hope you had a great time raising funds for this cause too.”

More about the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The Appeal tirelessly continues to provide essential humanitarian relief to those fleeing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Nearly ten million people are now internally displaced with around seven million refugees. 1,000 health facilities are in areas that have changed control and our support could help to provide emergency aid, shelter, food, water, hygiene/medical supplies and support to families and vulnerable people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
